- 1 cup water
- ½ cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 cups cold brew coffee
- 1 cup milk of choice
- 2 cups ice cubes
Small saucepan
Glass measuring cup
Two tall serving glasses
Make the syrupYou add the water, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon to a small saucepan and stir well before turning on the heat. SimmerYou bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring for three to five minutes until the sugar fully dissolves, then let it cool completely. Prep the glassesYou divide the ice cubes between two tall serving glasses. Add the sweetnessYou pour the cooled brown sugar cinnamon syrup into each glass over the ice, since hot syrup poured over ice just produces lukewarm cinnamon water. Pour the coffeeYou pour the cold brew coffee into each glass. Finish and serveYou pour the milk into each glass, stir gently, and serve immediately.
Recipe Notes
-
Sugar: I use dark or light brown sugar, whichever is on hand.
-
Cinnamon: I use a fresh jar for the best flavor.
-
Coffee: I use chilled cold brew, store-bought or homemade.
-
Milk: I use whatever milk is on hand, including oat or almond milk.
-
Storage: I shake the syrup before each use since the cinnamon settles.
