Strawberry Foam Cold Brew

Strawberry Foam Cold Brew

This strawberry foam cold brew proves that a genuinely pretty summer recipe needs nothing beyond fresh berries, a splash of cream, and a strong batch of coffee underneath. You follow the strained syrup, the properly chilled cream, and the gentle final spoon of foam, and this drink rivals anything sold at an eight-dollar coffee counter. Whether topped with basil or made with oat milk, this recipe turns a random Tuesday afternoon into an excuse for the prettiest glass of coffee in the house.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cold brew coffee
  • 1 cup ice
  • 4 large strawberries diced
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Equipment

  • Milk frother
  • Fine mesh strainer
  • Small bowl and fork

Method

  1. Mash the berries
You add the strawberries, sugar, water, and salt to a small bowl and mash with a fork until juicy, letting the mixture sit for five minutes.
  2. Strain the syrup
You pour the mashed strawberries through a fine mesh strainer into a cup, pressing with a spoon to extract all the liquid.
  3. Froth the foam
You add the heavy cream, milk, vanilla extract, and two tablespoons of the strawberry syrup to a mixing cup and froth until thick and pale pink.
  4. Prep the glasses
You fill two glasses with ice and pour cold brew coffee over the ice in each glass, leaving room at the top.
  5. Top it off
You spoon the strawberry foam evenly over the cold brew and serve immediately, pouring gently so it floats rather than sinks.

Recipe Notes

  • Strawberries: I use fresh berries, bruised or not, since they get mashed anyway.
  • Cream: I only use heavy cream, never skim milk, for the foam.
  • Syrup: I strain the mashed berries to keep the foam smooth.
  • Coffee: I use whatever cold brew brand is already on hand.
  • Foam: I make it fresh right before serving for the best texture.
